Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson two lawyers. As a young girl of just five, she moved to Oxfordshire and attended at the Dragon School. Emma decided to become an actor when she was six. For several years she was at the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing dance, acting and singing. The actress had performed in a variety of Stagecoach performances as well as in school events when she was 10 years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000), the movie adaption from J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel was cast for the very first for the first time on January 1, 1999. Emma was found by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theatre professor. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been picked for the role. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first film role was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It also was the most well-received film of the year. The opening weekday and weekend ticket sales were record breaking. The film has been praised by critics for its film, as well as the performance of the three principal young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British publication, gave Emma high marks for her performance. Emma's performance was nominated, and she received five awards for the movie.
