Maggie Grace is an American actor who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character from ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. The couple had separated and she relocated with her mother in Los Angeles. In 2001, despite her finances she managed get her first significant part in the web-based video series Rachel's Room as the lead character. In 2002, she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford was the main actor in Lost during its initial two seasons. In 2004, she was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award with the entire ensemble. After leaving the show, Grace would like to be on film more frequently, having played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. She starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 as well as Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. Her role was reprised in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised Shannon's role in Lost for two additional episodes, including the final episode of the series. The actress was featured in 2013's seventh season Californication. The character she plays is Faith who is both a star-gazer and socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She is part of Gyllenhaal's family, and is the older cousin of Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager She began working on small roles with her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko along with her sister. She then appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated for the Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) and the romantic comedy Secretary (2002). Both films received acclaim from critics. Her fame grew after playing Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008) due to the success of several commercial films that she was a part of in 2006. The film was nominated to win an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her role in Crazy Heart, (2009). She then was in comedies and dramas which included Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012 In addition to her role as a Secret Service agent, she has also appeared in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). The latest roles included the protagonist in The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal wrote and directed her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The drama about psychological issues won the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The Lost Daughter was also nominated for the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
